Recording Yukon First Nations singer Diyet, for TSO’s re-imagining of Handel’s Messiah

It was an honour to work with Diyet, to record excerpts of Handel’s Messiah for Against the Grain Theater and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO).

Called “a daring re-imagining of Handel’s enduring classic,” the production features voices from every province and territory in Canada.

Working with Diyet to help produce her vocal performance was inspiring. I was so impressed at her cultural perspective as we worked to craft her Southern Tutchone language into the vocal melodies.

The multi-award-winning innovative team at Against the Grain Theater will premiere the performance online on December 13, 2020 on AtG TV.
